10 TV: Police said an officer was injured and a man was killed during a shooting Saturday night on the city's north side. Officers were called to the area of Weber Road and Melva Avenue, located between North Broadway and Hudson streets, at about 9:30 p.m. on a report of a person with a gun… When the officers arrived, they confronted three men. An officer was struck in the chin. He was transported to The Ohio State University Medical Center in serious but stable condition. He was expected to make a full recovery, according to Fraternal Order of Police president Jim Gilbert. Investigators said that a man was shot and killed by the officer. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Two people who were with the man that was killed ran into a nearby house. SWAT officers were called and four people were taken from the house at about 11 p.m.
NBC 4: The Columbus Division of Police homicide detectives were called to 1635 Elaine Road early Saturday morning on a report of a homicide. When the officers arrived they found an unidentified victim inside the location with a gunshot wound to the upper body. The victim was transported to Grant Medical Center where he died close to 4 a.m. There currently are no suspects or motive for this homicide. Anyone with information please call the Homicide Squad at 645-4730. This was the city’s 108th homicide for 2008.
