Columbus Dispatch: Ohio State freshman defensive end Nathan Williams said his arrest yesterday for shoplifting is a case of trying to protect a friend. Williams was arrested by Beavercreek police for allegedly shoplifting three shirts valued at $80 from the Macy's department store in the Mall at Fairfield Commons in suburban Dayton. He said he was with a friend, and as they were walking out of the store, the alarm went off. His friend told him he had the three shirts, and Williams agreed to take the shirts -- and the blame.
On a night when two of our examples win awards, could anything dumber interrupt their moment? As for William’s explanation… Unless my friend has proof that I slept with his significant other and I owe him… there is no way I’m taking a shoplifting charge…
Cleveland Plain Dealer: Senior cornerback Malcolm Jenkins helped secure his place in Ohio State history when he won the Jim Thorpe Award on Thursday night, given to the best defensive back in the nation. Jenkins won the award over Eric Berry of Tennessee and Taylor Mays of USC. James Laurinaitis was in attendance as a finalist for the Bednarik Award for top defensive player, but that went to Rey Maualuga of USC… However, both Laurinaitis and Jenkins were named to the Walter Camp All-American first team. Laurinaitis became only the fifth player in 119 years to be named to the first team in three seasons. Left tackle Alex Boone was named to the second team.
Little Animal, you are amazing… possibly one of the four or five best defensive players in the history of OSU… Malcolm J… you deserved this… Congrats.
