NBC 4: A man used a baby to commit his crimes, according to a city prosecutor. Derrick Buell, 27, remained in jail Thursday. Buell was caught stealing iPod accessing at a Meijer on East Broad Street Wednesday night, Columbus City Prosecutor Bill Hedrick said. The part that made the crime extra disturbing was that he used a baby, presumably his baby, to commit the crimes, Hedrick said. And Wednesday wasn’t the first time. Buell was in hot water about six months ago for a similar crime. Buell allegedly used a diaper bag to steal hundreds of dollars worth of fishing and hunting equipment from a Meijer on Cleveland Avenue. Buell has a long criminal history, according to Hedrick, who was working to keep Buell in jail for as long as possible. Buell faced 180 days in jail for each incident.
