NBC 4: The Arts and College Preparatory Academy located on South Hamilton Road in Columbus has issued a letter to parents concerning an alleged incident that took place at the school. The incident involved a volunteer at the school allegedly sending inappropriate text messages to ACPA students via his personal cell phone. The letter states that immediately learning of the incident, Columbus police officers were contacted. The volunteer in question was immediately asked to leave ACPA premises and cease contact with any ACPA student. The administration made students aware of the possible inappropriate communication between the volunteer and the students. The investigation continues.
NBC 4: A former city manager pleaded guilty to an importuning charge Tuesday. William H. Nelson Jr., 48, was charged with one count of importuning after he allegedly was communicating in an online chat room with a detective posing as a 14-year-old girl. That was on or about Oct. 3, 2008, according to Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney Ron O’Brien. Nelson allegedly arranged to meet the “girl” at a Grove City restaurant. Nelson was arrested upon arrival at the determined meeting location. Nelson pleaded guilty to the charge, a felony 5, in a Franklin County courtroom before Judge Charles Schneider Tuesday.
