Lane Avenue Icon Closes

10 TV: The Holiday Inn on the Lane closed its doors for good on Monday afternoon, but it didn't happen without a little difficulty. “We had to find the keys to lock the door because it's never been locked,” said Marty Sims, food and beverage director at the hotel. “It's never been locked since we've been here.”

The hotel -- which has hosted everything from Saturday tailgate parties to families visiting campus -- will be coverted into a student dormitory… Campus Partners paid $19 million for the hotel. Renovations are expected to cost about $6 million… The new dorm is expected to house 480 students when it reopens this fall.
