10 TV: The Ohio State University student newspaper, The Lantern, will begin scaling back production this fall. The newspaper will no longer be distributed on Fridays, opting instead to produce more content for its Web site…
John Milliken, the newspaper's general manager, said eliminating the Friday edition will help the paper financially. "Your not printing hard copies (and) Friday tends to be a pretty quiet day at the university," Milliken said. "(There are) fewer classes, fewer students, fewer papers being picked up."
The newspaper hopes the move will help prepare students for what is occurring throughout the media industry. The Lantern plans to launch a new Web site this fall that will be constantly updated.
