East Side Horror Includes Abduction, Murder

10 TV: Deputies were investigating an attempted abduction that occurred Wednesday morning on the city's east side. A 12-year-old boy told authorities that he was waiting for a school bus at Mecca Road and Purdue Avenue when a man approached him and began asking questions… Deputies said the boy threatened the man with a brick after he tried to touch him. As the man walked away, the school bus rolled up to the intersection and the boy informed the driver of the incident. The man who approached the boy was described as a white man who appeared to be in his 50s, about 6 feet tall with brown hair. He was wearing a red hat, blue shorts, a blue and yellow shirt, with black tennis shoes.

10 TV: A man was killed and another wounded Wednesday afternoon in a shooting at a home on the city's far-east side. Police were called to a home on Fleming Road, near Livingston Avenue, at about 3:30 p.m. Investigators said gunfire erupted after three men entered a home. Randy B. Overson Jr., 28, was killed, while another victim, a 22-year-old man, was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No arrests were made after the shooting and descriptions of the three men were not immediately available.
